“What’s that?” you say as you hoist your Guinness or Shamrock Shake for another chug. “Sounds like a holiday for colonic therapists.” Unless you’re from the Boston area, you’re probably not hepped to this commemoration of the day the Revolutionary Army booted the Brits out of Boston. (Even though 26 March 1776 is the date that the British fleet left Boston Harbor, but we’re not supposed to mention that.) It’s a school and government holiday that just so happens to fall on St. Patrick’s Day, though honestly, it would have made more sense to claim the 18th as Evacu-Day to let people nurse their green-lager hangovers.
It’s probably common knowledge also that Boston considers “Patriot’s Day” in April a bona fide holiday — and golly, it always seems to fall on the same day as the Boston Marathon.
It’s also the feast day of St. Gertrude of Nivelles, the patronness of cats and their owners. Happy day, Gertie!
“cats and their owners”?
Cats are owned by no human! You obviously meant “the patroness of cats and their pet humans.”

But of course, you and your felines are correct. How foolish of me. Now please excuse me while I prepare a penitential offering of anchovies and pasta for His Eminence Theo, who is not amused by my uppity entry.
