She’s no fun; she fell right over

I’m starting to worry a little bit about the increasing frequency of ankle-wrenching falls. Last Thursday, I twisted my right ankle — the same one I’ve been injuring on a semi-regular basis since last spring. Yesterday I managed to walk wrong on my left ankle and took a spill on the sidewalk less than a block from our house. This seems especially unfair, since I was neither wearing crazy shoes nor carrying a center-of-gravity-impairing heavy bag, the sidewalk was smooth as glass, and I hadn’t tippled at all. One minute, I was listening to my sweetie talk about recycling major appliances, the next I was on the ground and swearing loudly. I’m beginning to wonder if there’s something wonky going on with my inner ear or something.

It could be that the first time you injured your ankle you damaged the ligaments. That’s what happened to my mom. Ask your doctor next time you see him/her to have a look at it.
