Surprises

The anniversary present I ordered for D a week ago finally arrived today, so I no longer have to suppress the urge to blab that I got him the microphone he’s been pining for. It was especially tough keeping mum during our anniversary dinner, when, over a nice bottle of David Bruce pinot noir, he talked about how much he wanted this particular mic, and maybe he could sell one of his old mics to offset the damages etc. etc. etc.

Work is still mostly relentless, but should get better in a couple of weeks or so as I start handing off some responsibilities. I can’t say I mind too much: last night my new boss handed me a card thanking me for the extra hours I’ve put in and enrobing a gift certificate to a very, very nice restaurant. (She got some help by colluding with D last week, so I guess he’s had secrets of his own to stifle.) I can’t remember either of my previous two managers doing anything remotely similar.

A propos of nothing, these photos showing the effects of global warming made me incredibly depressed.

But this idea for a Cephal-iPod alleviates it a tiny bit, especially since it would be a snap to steal the idea and knit one up.

“A propos of nothing, these photos showing the effects of global warming made me incredibly depressed.” Hmm. It would appear global warming causes “page not found” errors. That *is* depressing. Pesky linebreaks!
