For some reason, I just placed a (somewhat high) bid on a VHS copy of The Adventures of Picasso, which I sort of remember as being surreal and hilarious when I saw it as a college student. I’m pretty sure it’s actually really quite bad, and that my recollection is skewed because I was (somewhat high) when I saw it many years ago.
The film, which barely makes into IMDb, is by Swedish director Tage Danielsson and stars a young Lena Olin. I suppose if my (somewhat high) bid is accepted, I’ll at least enjoy seeing Gertrude Stein and Alice B. Toklas as played by two men.

The name of this movie in Swedish is “Picassos äventyr” and it is considered something of a classic in Sweden. The lead actors in the film are big stars there (or “were”; Margaretha Krook died a few years ago). Wow, I haven’t thought about that movie in years. I don’t think it’s “really quite bad,” just somewhat surreal. I did some checking and it’s apparently going to be released on DVD in Sweden (not that that’ll do you a lot of good, Amy…) later this year.
