I almost forget it was International Talk Like a Pirate Day - except I was doing a little shopping trip at the newly opened branch of our food coop (within a mile of our house! yay!) and the cute young thing at the register was going full-on pirate-y upon request (she'd changed her nametag to remind people of the day, and there was a little card that said something like "Ask Me to Talk Like a Pirate"). I'd been slightly bummed - post-vacation, crappy weather, slo-o-o-w line - and hearing her do the pirate thing for the full transaction (she'd clearly practiced and studied her pirate-talking) cheered me right up.
