Not a whole lot of import to relay. It’s wicked blustery and yet another umbrella has been snapped by a Nor’easter. This is the third one in the past year. Perhaps it’s time to invest in a Gust-Buster.
It seems autumn has been cancelled here in New England. I’d been looking forward to October most of the year, but now the month is nearly over and we’ve had a scant handful of clear, crisp days.
I’ve all but given up on the cardigan I was knitting for Kiyo — the gauge is totally off and it won’t fit him until he’s in second or third grade — besides which, I’m sure to run out of yarn before it’s finished. If the weather continues grody I guess I’ll rip it out this weekend. Depressing.
About the only thing I did manage to accomplish this weekend, besides whip up some cornbread and sweet potato and pinto bean chili was upgrade WordPress and install the totally mind-blowingly great Spam Karma 2.0. I experimented with some different designs for this site, but didn’t get very far with the noodlage.
Last night we ordered heaps of exquisite dumplings (shrimp, pork, and leek; spinach and tofu skin) from Wang’s Fast Food. They were so satisfying on a chilly night that the Peking meat sauce noodles I also ordered went untouched. I don’t know how I went so long without hearing about Wang’s takeout. The folks at the Chowhound board seem to agree that it’s the only thing Magoun Square has going for it.
Tonight, Doug and I are going to try to see Kelly Link read at Porter Square Books in our ‘hood. I’d much rather stay indoors, but I want to support our local independent bookstore — now with coffee! Also, Doug sent me a slightly edited version of her amazing story Carnation, Lily, Lily, Rose before we were even an item, and her first collection of stories Stranger Things Happen was the first present he ever gave me, a pre-birthday gift.

Wow! Sweet potato and pinto bean chili sounds really good! And I knew that Porter Square Books was putting in a coffee bar, but I didn’t know that it was in fact IN. Excellent… thanks for the news.

Someone else below asked this already about antispam scripts.
I am getting nailed with Spam on my website mails and in our blog website - now its offline too
much spam. Is there anyway to stop this? If not, there really isn’t any point in leaving it up
and active. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for help, Keep up the good work. Greetings from Poland
