Today was the first day of the UI10 conference. So far, so good, although I don’t think my brain could possibly absorb one more piece of information. And oh! How I missed my laptop (either Agnes or the stinky Dell I use at work). I may bring Agnes with me tomorrow (though the conference proceedings alone weigh as much as a hybrid car).

I kept forgetting that my company had today off (a lot of folks around here do — it’s a statewide legal/postal/bank holiday), lucky sods. I’ll get my Columbus Day on Friday, after the conference. Friday seems very far away.

Today was Mr. V.’s first day at his new job. He sent me an email at 5:50 to say that he was taking off soon and would be home around 7:00. Thirty minutes later, he and his bass were out the door for rehearsal.

So very tired. I think I will get some shuteye, but before I do, a trifle: walking home from the T this evening, I read a small sign for Cingular Wireless as “Centaur Widgets.” That’s what eight hours of PowerPoint will do to you if you’re not careful.
