Uh, yeah. Anyway, for regular readers, I’m still alive and haven’t joined the Witness Protection Program. And if you’re stopping by from the profile on One Million Blogs, hi! I haven’t found anything interesting on the street lately, but if I do, you’ll be the first to know.
We watched The Shield Around the K last night, a charming and unpretentious DIY documentary about K Records that made me all wistful and nostalgic for the late ’80s/early ’90s. (So much so that twice today when I’ve wanted to say a recent year, I’ve started with “19–” before catching myself.) It’s (not surprisingly) heavy on the Beat Happening trip, but also features some live footage of Mecca Normal, Fugazi, and the Halo Benders. My only complaint about it is the stream of audible “Mm-hms” from (I presume) the director during practically all of the interviews. Definitely worth Netflikking, though.

Thank you for your compliments re: my doc , “The Shield Around the K.” I also wish I hadn’t responded with so many “Mm-hms.” Live and learn I guess. Cheers.
