Weird 4th

I woke up around 6:00 this morning and rolled over with every intention of sleeping a couple more hours, but surprising, searing pain in my neck and right shoulder kind of foiled that plan. Several ibuprofin, a makeshift icepack, and some hours later, it started feeling better enough that I could turn my head and lift things with my right arm. I biked stationarily while listening to insanely poppy music for an hour, which also seemed to help. (Kill or cure.)

This afternoon, the semi-summery day turned grey and chilly enough to require a light down comforter over my legs. I know that the Cujo days are coming at some point, but except for a couple of days in the 90s, this has been the most wonderfully cool summer since I moved to Boston. I just love it.

I slapped a couple of veggie burgers on the stovetop grill; that plus leftover sesame noodles should be fine for dinner. Corn on the cob and potato salad be hanged. A friend told me about a fairly undiscovered elevated spot in Cambridge from which to view the fireworks, but mah honeh isn’t so much into pyrotechnics (and it looks like the heavens will open up any minute anyway), so we’ll probably stay in and watch a movie or read and listen to music. I can’t quite kick the feeling that it’s Sunday evening. It’s probably the knowledge that I’ll walk into a vipers’ nest of meetings and email threads and stress tomorrow.
